Last Drawings of 2012!

So 2012 is coming to an end and thought I'd put up the last couple of illustrations I didn't put up here yet from this year.

Here's a design I did to try and make t-shirts out of for a local art sale that was happening in Puerto Rico, but unfortunately wasn't able to make some in time for the event. I do plan to make it into t-shirts though for another future art sale and to sell online.

Here's the painting I did for Pernicious Press' Maladjusted Monsters: Cyclops book I mentioned here a little while back. Made with gouache on cold press watercolor paper.

And here's the rough sketch used to make the painting.

Well, I'd say this year has been really good to me, but kind of crazy at the same time. I've managed to get a lot of stuff done this year that I'm pretty proud of doing. Not as much as I wanted to, but I've got a new year to look forward to to continue on with my plans. I've learned a lot of really great and interesting things and hope to continue learning more in the next year. Hope everyone has a super and safe New Years!! Thanks for watching and I'll see you all in 2013!!!

Happy Holidays from Stan Lee!

Here's a video I helped do clean-up on. An animation for Stan Lee's World of Heroes YouTube channel animated by super talented and all around awesome dude David de Rooij (pronounced "de Roy")! I helped clean up the part with all the 12 lawyers with the two Captain Marvels, Wolverine running and crying with Pheonix and Cyclops in bed, and the Thing powdering his face.

Here it is!

Enjoy and have a Happy Holidays!!

I'll be back soon with more Christmas fun!

Here's More Stuff

A poster of Festival of the Lion King from Walt Disney World for friend Jason Anders (Fulle Circle) for a documentary he's doing. Click on the picture to view bigger.

Here's something I did for my Ecuadorian friend Makinita a.k.a. Andres Silva for a book he's doing. It's of him and his messed up cartoon creations. He always wears a Mexican luchador mask. Sort of like a trademark of his. Check out his stuff! He's a really funny cartoonist. He animates and makes crazy vidz too.

And finally, here's some concept drawings for a cyclops painting I did a while back for a book called Maladjusted Monsters: Cyclops by Pernicious Press. It's part of a series of books featuring mythological monsters done by different artists from around the world, which is pretty cool. I'd love to show the painting, but as of now I can't, at least I don't think I can. Eventually I'll put it up here...I hope.

Comic Con, Disneyland and LA!

Who's going to Comic Con San Diego? It's almost coming up and I'll be going with some friends there to check it out and have fun! I'll also be going to Disneyland and then a trip up to LA after the con. It'd be really cool if I could meet up with some California/cartoonists friends while I'm at Comic Con or LA whenever I get the chance! I'll be in the LA area Thursday July 19 - Monday July 23(the day I leave).

Here's a business card I plan to pass out while I'm out there!

Art Dump!

Just an update on stuff I've done throughout this year...

Drew this for cartoonist Shawn Dickinson on his birthday in March for fun. It's his character Rocky Arachnid done in my own weird way. Shawn's an awesome dude and cartoonist. Check out his amazing stuff HERE! You can also buy some really cool stuff at his Etsy store like his Schitzles Der Cat Comic Book! I just got mine in the mail and it's really awesome!!

A wedding present I did for some friends back in April.

An art director from the Topps trading card company asked me to do some Mars Attacks! sketch cards as part of their new Mars Attacks Heritage card series. I chose to do 106 cards for them. I had a lot of fun doing these.

Here's some more:

They come out next month in July along with a bunch of other sketch cards from some really cool artists! Definitely check it out!

Here's some Dark Shadows (the movie) fan art.

A lot of people didn't like this movie, but I really liked it! Maybe they didn't like it because it wasn't up to par with the original TV show, which I've never seen by the way, but really would like to, but as a movie alone I thought it was really good. I thought Tim Burton did a really good job with this one and thought Johnny Depp was really cool as Barnabas.

Here's a Facebook cover photo I did out of boredom a while back.

And here's a man thing acting all nuts.

Thanks for viewing! More stuff to show you later on!

Evil Elf!

I took a lot of design elements from this caveman character, especially his hair, which to me looks really cool on him.

I tried my best to achieve this sort of hairstyle on my character.

On the caveman there's a lot of hair poofness on the front and on the back of his head and not so much on the sides as seen on the character's frontal view in the picture below. I tried adding hair poofness on all sides of my characters head, but keeping that same emphasis of poofness on the front and on the back like on the caveman character.

He comes from THIS early Chuck Jones cartoon if you're interested in seeing some poof.

I don't think Jones ever used this kind of hair again on any other character after this one (if I'm wrong, let me know). I've noticed Clampett used this sort of hairstyle on some of his characters, like Red Hot Ryder from Buckaroo Bugs and the moth from Eatin' on the Cuff. I think there were others who had that hair, but none come to mind right now. I think Clampett was the only one who took advantage of this kind of hairstyle on some of his characters, and I'm glad he did 'cause they look amazing! I've always found those characters to be pretty memorable.
