Freaky Cat!

What's up?! I figured I should put something else here rather than what I've been working on for my film. I got a new Wacom tablet recently and I wanted to see how I could ink drawings with it. I inked this in Flash and it came out okay, but the lines get all loose and uneven sometimes, which gets me all frustrated. I think I should start inking in Illustrator and see how that works for me.

Wonderful drawing! I love those two crazy characters! The inking looks great to me. If you have chance, try Illustrator, it is better and more advanced than Flash regarding the inking. Sometimes it can be frustrating too, but don't give up. It takes some time to get used to (I'm still working much faster in Flash).

I've only read bad things about Flash when it comes to inking, so I'd say this looks like a good job to me.

To answer your question from the previous post, I wouldn't consider myself to have done a lot of animation, although I started young. I always felt my draughtsmanship needed improving, so that's what I'm working on. I'm an animation enthusiast so I've picked up a few things from reading related books and watching television programs\online videos on the subject. I'm no expert, and that's why I only suggest things. Sometimes they might not be the best way forward.

Thanks, Hammerson! Yeah I've always wanted to try Illustrator with a tablet. I'll definitely ink another drawing using Illustrator for next time. Yeah Flash is way faster for me, too. I think it’s because I'm not used to inking with a tablet and I'd always use my school's Cintiqs for inking in Flash. It's a bit frustrating, but it's really fun to use. So I won’t give up just yet.

Hey, crsp! I think you gave me some pretty well thought-out suggestions in the last post. They made me think of how I can improve my animation in a more creative and interesting way. I really do appreciate any kind criticism from anybody who knows what they’re talking about and yours did serve me well! So thanks, man!

Animation can sometimes be pretty hard to handle, but definitely keep it at it because it’s one hell of an art form that’s all about having fun!

Did you use the brush tool when you did the cleanup? I use the line-tool first and then I convert them(this is a part I hate the most>_<), in this way you get cleaner lines, but it takes forever and might slows Flash down!

But to me your outlines looks great!=) And I also like your colors!

I just checked your animation and I must say its superfantasticamazing!!! I don't know what I should say because I don't see anything bad in it!
It's amazingly done and reminds me that I have a lot to learn!T_T
I can't wait to see your finished cartoon!
I also like the tree painting you did! It looks beautiful!:)

Awesome freaky ink! You'll probably enjoy the Illustrator brush even more. I like how copying/pasting a group of brush lines from Illustrator into Flash, retains each line in its own group (until you Control-B to break apart - allowing paint bucket fill).

Either way, whatever is easiest for you. Keep up the great work.

Nice line work man!
I find that inking in Flash can be a total bitch and a half too. But dude, you have done a great job regardless.
I love your work quite a bit!

Keep em' coming!
