Is This Genius or What?!

I sure as heck think it is! Check out this clip from the Beavis and Butthead Do America movie. It's where Beavis starts hallucinating at 1:10.

God, I love this! The visuals are pretty insane and fun to watch. The song is pretty great too. It's from a White Zombie song called "Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks and Cannibal Girls". This is the kind of stuff that really inspires me.

I love the guitar intro by the huge green monster guy with the spikey-shouldered jacket. The way he moves to the music is just too cool! And the way he's designed is so appealing for me. The whole video looks incredible. All the little monster guys dancing around and how Beavis and Butthead are caricatured as these grotesque monsters are pretty amazing. They look very cartoony! They also look pretty scary as monsters, but in a funny way! I think that's a pretty neat combination.

Anyway I love Beavis and Butthead and I've alwasy wanted to draw them for a while so here's a little something I did...

Dude I love this scene in the movie, its amazing. My friends were telling me that Rob Zombie actually designed and I think he animated this headtrip part of the movie.

I need to add this movie to my collection and the series also. I forgot how funny this cartoon was.

Oh yeah and the drawing you did is funny as hell.

Do you ink evreything in flash, or illustrator?

Thanks, man! Yeah, I heard that too. I think it was my siter that told me he did his own cartoons, but if he did the animation, then holy crap he did a really great job! The designs look so original and cool!

I did the drawing in Illustrator and sometimes I ink in Flash. A while back I used Photoshop to ink the drawings with the pen tool going through each edge of all the pencil lines, which took forever to do.

I always loved that part too!

I heard it was the only sequence animated in the States. The studio oversea didn't want to animated things related to demons/hell... because of a religious issue or something. Haha! And yes Rob Zombie did "the concept art" of it.

I know I've already comment on your B&B pic, but seriously it's pure GENIUS!

You did a great job at keeping the spirit of the original design. It doesn't look like a take at Beavis & Butt-Head in a different 'style' (even if it is... haha! )

They are like the originals, only a thousand times better.

That's interesting that Rob Zombie did the concept art. It reminds me of the art of Reg Mombassa.

Can anyone think of other rock stars who are also graphic artists, and is there some kind of commonality between the styles of art?

I got to tell you man, I am really a big fan of a lot of your new stuff!

Benj--Hiya, Benj! Thanks! Wow that's crazy! Who would've thunk it? But I guess I could see that happening since Asian religious beliefs are a lot more crazier than in the West. Well maybe not haha! Still very interesting. Thanks for the info!

pseudonym--I don't know of any other musician who has an interest in graphic art. So far only Rob Zombie comes to mind.

Danny--Thanks, man! That means a lot! I'm glad you like it.

Pedro: Well, there's also Reg Mombassa, as I mentioned. But yeah, those are the only two I can think of.

Certainly, being a good musician is no guarantee of taste in graphic design, as this story proves.

Man that's hilarious! That's a pretty bad album cover haha. It's funny 'cause all the mistakes are so obvious that they don't need to be explained so distinctively. But I probably wouldn't have seen it if I read it in wikipedia.

I guess leave the visuals to the graphic artists, who actually know what they're doing.

WOW! I love that scene. It was always my favorite in the movie. Pretty cool to see what Rob Zombie can do to a pair of young confused teens (Ha-Ha!)
And your caricature of them came out really nice too. I like your colors.

That's totally my favorite part of that movie. Great drawings too!

For the record, this is the actual cover art that David Patchett submitted.
