New Cartoon Merch for Feria de Cómics!

New cartoon merch alert!🚨

Had designed new stickers, had made new Halloween pins (based on designs from a Halloween art show last year), and wanted to do a set of prints based on the dog dude that’s on the back of my business card (swipe for proof)! All of these I’m selling tomorrow at Feria de Cómics in Cuartel de Ballajá happening this weekend! Get ‘em while they’re hot! 😀

TO GAZA, WITH LOVE: A Global Anijam - Puerto Rico Con Palestina

Sharing a short film I made for the Animation Community 4 Palestine's (@ac4pal on Instagram) online event TO GAZA, WITH LOVE: A Global Anijam; an initiative to send positive messages to the people of Palestine from animators around the world via 10-30 seconds of animated films.

A good amount of them can be seen on the @ac4pal IG page. The ones I’ve seen have all been so great and heartfelt. More updates on this event to come.

AC4PAL took inspiration from animator Haneen Koraz (@animator_haneen on IG) along with her team in Gaza who help Palestinian children make stop-motion animated films as a way to express the hardships of the war while maintaining a sense of optimism. The films I’ve seen from them have been heartbreaking, showing how much resilience they have at very young ages. No child should go through what they go through. I’ve always thought the process of animating as a kind of therapy, so I think it’s beautiful and inspiring what Haneen and her team are doing to help these children through that process.

With my film, I wanted to represent that in Puerto Rico (where I’m from) the solidarity towards Palestine is strong, that we acknowledge the oppression and genocide that the Palestinians are going through, letting them know that we care big. Puerto Rico has its long history of colonialism and oppression, and is still going unfortunately, in which many Puerto Ricans have expressed their empathy towards Palestine because of their history. I added a ‘Bomba’ drum beat, a type of music that originated in Puerto Rico that’s used for many different occasions, but mostly known to represent resistance and resilience against colonialism and oppression.

Hello! Been developing a Patreon page and here’s the banner I made for it and a new profile pic. I had originally intended to start it up earlier in the year, but other things/projects I’ve been doing simultaneously halted or slowed down the process, and let’s just say it’ll be ready when it’s ready 😅 but I’m confident in saying that some time in the year it’ll be up and running and been picking up my speed more lately with its development. So yes, considering this as an official announcement that I’ll have a Patreon up soon 🙂 Will mention more info on it later once I have more done for it!

Dulces Sueños, David Lynch

Sharing here a David Lynch poster illustration for the art show and retrospective Dulces Sueños, David Lynch that occured on Saturday, May 3 in Fine Arts Miramar in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Wanted to share also the original rough and thumbnail sketch made for it. I am currently selling the poster, so if interested, please send me a message at my email, pvcartoons@gmail.com.

I had really nice time at the event. Loved the other works from the other artists and it was so great to meet and talk with some of them too along with other really cool folk. They also had a showing for Eraserhead later on that was packed with people. So nice to see so much love for David Lynch in Puerto Rico ❤️ I believe they decided to do another showing right after that one, which I went to. Always an incredible experience watching the film on the big screen. They also showed a short film of his called The Grandmother, which I loved and thought was perfect to put before the movie. They also announced they extended the showings of his films for June as well, which am excited to see!

Thanks again to Rosa Colón, Mario Alegre Femenías and Fine Arts/Caribbean Cinemas Puerto Rico for the invitation and putting it all together! Salió súper todo! Los felicito y también a los artistas participantes! 🙌
